Frequently Asked Question
Q: Is your facility clean? A: When our service attendants are not assisting our customers and checking out alarms, they are cleaning driveways, hallways, storage units, roll up doors, the office, and bathrooms. Every quarter, we send mystery shoppers to each facility to check out the cleanliness of each of our facilities. Our regional managers visit the facilities every month. Every day, our tenants are rating us for cleanliness and they can let us know how we are doing through our
Owner's Hotline or the quarterly cleanliness rating questionnaire. Over 90% of our tenants who are surveyed every quarter rate cleanliness as most important out of 15 other services and benefits, e.g. friendly and helpful staff, alarm system and 14 hour per day Saf Keeper. We have made cleanliness our number 1 customer service priority. Q: Will my property be safe? A: Your property will be more protected at Saf Keep than at your home or apartment. Your unit door is alarmed and is monitored seven days a week and 24 hours per day. During gate hours, the alarms are monitored by our service attendants. During the hours that the facility is closed, the unit alarms, as well as the fire alarms, are monitored by a bonded central monitoring bureau with instructions to contact the police or fire department to respond to any
alarms. With the exception of one facility, all Saf Keep locations have an on-site apartment for a Saf Keeper. All facilities have video recorders to keep a record of what happened. Only persons with an individual gate code have access to the facility during gate hours. All tenants must produce and have copied a valid picture identification card. You can also purchase property insurance at our facilities. Q: Will I be safe at Saf Keep? A: You will never be alone at Saf Keep. Drop into the office and pick up a cup of coffee. During the 14 hours a day our facility is open, there will be a Saf Keeper working at the facility. Milpitas, which has a live-in caretaker, is the only exception, as its service attendants are on duty 9 hours a day. A Saf Keeper will always be available to accompany you to your storage unit. Our intercom system can be used to contact the office or the storage
attendant. During office hours, family or friends may contact you on site, because all our projects are equipped with public address systems which are used to page you. Q: Why should I lease from Saf Keep? A: Saf Keep has one of the highest staffing levels in the self storage business. The smallest facility of 520 units has 3 full-time employees and the largest of 1744 units has 9 full-time employees. It takes high levels of staffing to insure a clean facility, to afford 14 hour a day direct tenant assistance and to back up an individual door alarm system. Because our customers can communicate directly to us by means of the Owner's Hotline, we conduct regular tenant written surveys and we mail a newsletter to all tenants. Saf Keep knows what our customers expect. We are listening. The Saf Keepers who will be serving you know that successfully delivering premier customer service will give them a 10% bonus boost to their annual income. In response to our tenant surveys, 97% of our tenants state that they would refer their friends to us. Q: What are the best comparison shopping questions? A: Do you have individual 24-hour monitored door alarms? If I am in your facility while the office is closed and an alarm goes off, is there someone on duty whose job it is to respond to the alarm? When I am on site when the office is closed, is there anyone on duty who will assist me? How many storage units does your facility have and how many full time employees work at your facility? Q: What is the minimum period of time I can rent a unit for? A: Saf Keep Storage leases are on a month to month basis. Q: Is Saf Keep business-friendly? A: Yes. Saf Keep is proud to provide an array of special services to business tenants. These include our ability to accept package deliveries even when the business tenant is not on site, shelving for your unit, loading and unloading of pallets using Saf Keep’s forklifts, on-site paging, faxing service and many more! We typically have a large number of business tenants in our facilities, averaging over 30% of our total rentable square footage . Q: What size do I need? A. If you will be storing your goods for a time without accessing your unit, you can fit in a smaller space by packing it full. If you will be accessing your unit from time to time, you should get a space that is somewhat larger to enable you to create an aisle for easier access to your goods. You can select a space based on the following: Note: All unit sizes are approximate and are for comparison purposes only. Spaces may be smaller or larger than advertised. |
